UNICEF Warns of of Severe Consequences Following Stoppage of Humanitarian Aid Deliveries into GazaNew York, 4 Mar (ONA) —- UNICEF warned that the stoppage of aid
deliveries into the Gaza Strip will quickly lead to devastating
consequences for children and families across Gaza who are struggling
to survive.
UNICEF urgently called for taking immediate and effective measures
to enable the provision of urgently needed basic services and to
facilitate the unimpeded flow of humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip
through multiple crossings.
“The aid restrictions will severely compromise lifesaving
operations for civilians,” UNICEF Regional Director for the Middle
East and North Africa Edouard Beigbeder said. He added, “It is imperative that
the ceasefire remains in place, and that aid is allowed to flow
freely so we can continue to scale up the humanitarian response.”
During the first phase of the ceasefire, UNICEF and its partners
were able to bring in more essential supplies and reach more children
in need.
The Israeli occupation had earlier announced the suspension of
the entry of humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip and the closure of
the crossings “until further notice.”—- Ends/Khalid
