Tourism Forum Showcases Oman’s Experiences

Muscat,
29 Sep (ONA) — The Ministry of Heritage and Tourism today organized an event
titled “Wellness Tourism Forum” to mark World Tourism Day, which
falls on 27 September every year.

World
Tourism Day 2025 takes the theme “Tourism and Sustainable
Transformation.”

The
forum was aimed to highlight Oman’s promising potential in the field of tourism
and enhance its position as a regional and global destination offering unique
wellness and recreational experiences that combine the preservation of nature
and wellness.

The
forum was held under the auspices of Dr.Ahmed Salem Al Mandhari,
theMinistryofHealth’s UndersecretaryforHealth
PlanningandRegulation.

The
forum elaborated on means of developing wellness tourism by enhancing the role
of spas and health hotels in supporting physical and mental health, encouraging
integration among health clubs and companies offering travel and tourism
services, encouraging the participation of small and medium-sized enterprises
(SMEs) in providing local products for health facilities, providing tourism
packages tailored to those seeking recreation and wellness experiences and
motivating the hospitality sector to develop the infrastructure and services
for this type of tourism.

The
forum saw the participation of governmental establishments, academic
institutions and private firms. The participants included the Ministry of
Health, Sultan Qaboos University, the German University and Oman Tourism
College, in addition to representatives of 4 and 5-star hotels and resorts.

The
agenda included visual presentations featuring successful international
experiences in wellness tourism, like the hot springs experience in Eastern
Europe and the experience of Bali in Indonesia, as well as wellness camping in
the Sultanate of Oman (the village of Sujarah in the Wilayat of Jabal Akhdar as
a model of mountain life practices).

A
number of resorts and hotel establishments showcased their experiences in
providing wellness tourism, offering a variety of services, packages and
well-prepared facilities and resources.

On
the sidelines of the forum, an exhibition of therapeutic initiatives and
experiences in the Sultanate of Oman was held.
