Khartoum, 16-3-2026 (SUNA) – The initial workshop to review the first draft of the Strategic Plan for the Health Sector (2026–2030) was held in Khartoum on Monday. The workshop brought together directors-general of state Ministries of Health, state planning directors, general directors from the Federal Ministry of Health, and a number of experts. The meeting was attended by Federal Minister of Health, Professor Haitham Mohamed Ibrahim, and Undersecretary of the Federal Ministry of Health, Dr. Ali Babiker Sidahmed Mohamed.The workshop also included discussions on the Health System Recovery Strategy, with broad participation from international partners such as the World Health Organization (WHO) and UNICEF, as well as national organizations and institutions, notably the Ministry of Social Development represented by the National Health Insurance Fund, the Ministry of Higher Education, and other relevant ministries.In a press statement following the workshop, Director of Planning and Policies, Dr. Al-Mughirah Al-Amin, explained that the primary goal was to engage stakeholders in discussions on the vision and strategic objectives, highlighting that working papers were submitted from various states.The workshop concluded by underscoring the importance of formulating a comprehensive, forward-looking strategy aimed at restoring the health system and enhancing its capacity to respond effectively to future challenges.BH/BH
