Amman, Feb 22 (Petra) – Minister of Youth Raed Adwan met on Sunday with the Representative of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in Jordan, Maria Stavropoulou, where they discussed ways to enhance cooperation between the two sides across various fields.
Adwan stressed the importance of partnership in implementing several youth programs and projects, particularly in executing the Jordanian national plan to activate United Nations Security Council Resolution 2250 on Youth, Peace and Security. He referred to the programs implemented by the ministry within the framework of empowering young people and enhancing their participation in various political, economic and social spheres of life.
For her part, Stavropoulou praised Jordan’s role under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah II in supporting refugees, noting the appreciation of the UNHCR for the Ministry of Youth’s approach, which is reflected in providing refugee youth with access to its programs and services and enabling them to benefit from available opportunities.
She expressed her aspiration to open new horizons of cooperation with the ministry to implement youth projects through youth centers and various sports and youth facilities affiliated with the ministry.
