Zarqa, Nov 23 (Petra) – Zarqa University on Sunday signed a cooperation agreement with the British Council aimed at expanding its network of international partners and strengthening academic and language development opportunities for its students.
The agreement was signed by University President Nedal Al-Ramahi and Alex Lambert, Director of the British Council in Jordan and the Levant, in the presence of Vice President for Academic Affairs Alaeddin Sadeq, Head of the English Department at the Faculty of Arts Marwan Al-Qaryouti, University Library Director Nisreen Nawrasi, Head of Business Development and Examinations Relations for the North Middle East & North Africa Anas Mohammed, and Examinations Business Development Manager Alaa Al-Khatib.
Under the agreement, both sides will enhance academic and cultural cooperation, support knowledge exchange, and strengthen students’ English-language competencies by offering programs, exams, training opportunities and diverse language activities.
The partnership includes providing internationally accredited examinations such as IELTS and other British Council–supervised tests, in addition to supporting curriculum development and language programs through training, workshops and expert-led consultations.
Through the agreement, the university seeks to establish a long-term strategic partnership that bolsters its standing locally and internationally, especially as it becomes an official IELTS testing center while continuing to operate the TOEFL center on campus.
