Mafraq, Jan. 4 (Petra) – The Mafraq Antiquities Directorate has completed 13 projects listed in its budget for the previous year, covering several archaeological sites across the northeastern governorate.
The Directorate’s Director, Imad Ubaidat, told the Jordan News Agency (Petra) on Saturday that the projects involved the maintenance and restoration of archaeological sites in Rahab, Umm Al-Jimal, Sama Al-Sarhan, and the Islamic palace of Burqu’ in Al-Ruwaished District, in addition to conducting studies and sustainability projects.
He added that these projects were funded by the Mafraq Governorate Council’s budget, with allocations for Mafraq Antiquities Directorate amounting to JD585,000 last year. Ubaidat noted that the implementation of these projects created approximately 300 temporary job opportunities.
