Amman, Jan 5 (Petra) — The Lower House’s Foreign Affairds Committee commended state agencies, namely the Ministry of Foreign and Expatriate Affairs, for their endeavors to win the freedom of a Jordanian doctor, who was held in Israel.
The committee’s chairperson Dina Al Bashir noted in a statement that Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and Expatriate Affairs Ayman Safadi briefed the committee on the circumstances of the detention of doctor Abdullah Al Balawi.
Balawi was arrested as he tried to cross into the Gaza Strip to join a medical relief mission.
The committee has been in contact with his father and updated him on efforts to secure his release through diplomatic channels, she said.
