
Amman, Jan. 14 (Petra) – Deputy Speaker of the Lower House of Representatives, Mohammad Maraiah, said Jordan’s youth and women represent the basis of the Kingdom’s political process and its “main” driver, adding that their empowerment is a national priority that enjoys Royal support.
The lawmaker’s remarks came during a meeting with a group of youth participating in the “Youth Skills Development Project,” organized by International Youth Work Platform (RYS) Tuesday.
Maraiah said youth empowerment and their active their role align with Royal vision, aimed at building an aware generation that participates “effectively” in shaping the country’s future and achieving sustainable development.
The MP also said Jordan’s political modernization process requires cultural changes that enhance youth engagement in community and political activities.
Continuing: “Youth engagement is not limited to political work only, but also covers steps to enhance their community participation and develop their leadership skills, which contributes to building their future and enhancing their effective role in achieving the Kingdom’s aspirations.”
Praising the Jordanian youth “vital” role, he affirmed the House’s keenness to provide the necessary support for projects and ideas that contribute to empowering youth, in line with the Royal directives.
Meanwhile, RYS Director, Amr Abu Anqour, said Youth Skills Development Project aims to provide a space for youth to express their opinions and share their ideas, which enhances their capability to play an “active” role in achieving the Royal vision to empower youth.
