Moscow, 4 Aug 2026 (ONA) — Five
people have been killed and six others injured in a drone attack targeting an
industrial zone in the city of Chekhov, located on the outskirts of the Russian
capital, local authorities announced today.
Andrei Vorobyov, Governor of
Moscow Oblast, stated in a post on the Telegram messaging platform that fires
broke out in the Novosyolki industrial area following the strike. He confirmed
that the attack resulted in five fatalities and six injuries, with emergency
response teams continuing firefighting and rescue operations at the scene.
Russian authorities have not
immediately released further details regarding the extent of the damage or the
parties responsible for the attack, as investigations remain ongoing to
determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The attack comes amid persistent
cross-border drone strikes between Russia and Ukraine, which have seen a marked
escalation in recent weeks.
