Amman, Jan. 26 (Petra) — The launch of a direct flight route between Jordan and Benghazi, Libya, marks a strategic step toward enhancing health and economic cooperation between the two countries, according to Nael Zaidan Al-Masa’leh, President of the Private Hospitals Association.
In a statement on Sunday, Al-Masa’leh commended the collaboration with Royal Jordanian Airlines, which led to the opening of the route connecting Jordan to Benina International Airport in Benghazi. This follows the launch of a direct flight to Tripoli two months ago, reflecting years of sustained efforts to bolster ties.
The new route is expected to significantly benefit Jordan’s healthcare sector by easing travel for Libyan patients seeking treatment in the country’s hospitals. Additionally, it is set to create new investment opportunities in medical tourism between Jordan and Libya.
Royal Jordanian Airlines announced that it would operate two weekly flights between Jordan and Libya, with plans to increase the frequency to three weekly flights in the near future.
Benina International Airport in Benghazi recently welcomed its first Royal Jordanian flight after years of suspension. The occasion was marked by an official ceremony attended by Royal Jordanian CEO Samer Majali, senior aviation officials from Jordan, and representatives from the Private Hospitals Association.
This development is expected to further strengthen economic and social ties between the two nations, providing a platform for enhanced collaboration across various sectors.
