Amman, Feb. 5 (Petra) – Jordanian National Centre for Epidemics and Communicable Diseases Control (JCDC) launched the final report of the results of the National Non-Communicable Diseases Survey, which was prepared and implemented, in cooperation and partnership with relevant national institutions.
According to a JCDC statement Wednesday, its head, Dr. Adel Belbeisi, said non-contagious diseases constitute a “major” challenge facing health systems globally and locally, which “mainly” cause morbidity and mortality in the world, including Jordan.
Belbeisi added that the report constitutes an “essential” step to formulating health policies based on scientific evidence, and enhancing integration among the concerned parties to ensure an “effective” response aimed to preventing these diseases and reducing their risk factors.
The center, he noted, believes that prevention and early preparedness are the cornerstone of facing health challenges.
On future action, Belbeisi stated the JCDC is “keen” to cooperate with partners from various sectors, locally and globally, to integrate the “best” practices and “effective” health policies, to enhance capability to counter this “major” health challenge.
The endeavor to share the report with Jordan’s decision-makers and relevant parties to ensure implementation of the “best” practices and enhance national strategies in prevention and control of non-communicable diseases, which also impose an economic burden on health systems, he pointed out.
To address these concerns, he urged “adequate” measures to reduce the diseases’ effects through prevention, early diagnosis and efficient treatment.
