Abbas Ibrahim: Lebanon’s repeated concessions have weakened its security, stability

NNA ndash;nbsp;Former Director General of General Security, Major General Abbas Ibrahim, on Monday posted a message on his social media accounts warning against repeated concessions under pressure, linking them to the deterioration of Lebanonrsquo;s security and stability.

Using a parable, Ibrahim recounted the story of a rooster on a farm that, under threat of slaughter, was forced to stop crowing, then to cluck like a hen, and was ultimately asked to lay eggsmdash;leading to its inevitable fate. He wrote: ldquo;Some must stop playing the role of hens to please the farm owners at the expense of their authenticity, for their fate will be that of the farmrsquo;s rooster. History bears witness.rdquo;

He added: ldquo;The repeated retreats under pressure and conditions, without confrontation or a unified Lebanese position, have led to the current state of weakened security and stability, and to attacks on the people in the southern suburbs, the Bekaa, and the South.rdquo;
