Three
Agreements Inked for Sultan Said bin Taimour Road

Muscat,
13 May (ONA) —— The Ministry of Transport, Communications, and Information
Technology today signed three agreements to implement the third, fourth, and
fifth sections of Sultan Said bin Taimour Road (Adam-Haima-Thumrait), spanning
a total length of 400 km at a cost exceeding RO 258 million.

The
agreements were signed on behalf of the ministry by Eng. Said Hamoud Al
Maawali, Minister of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology, who
stated that the project’s completion will enhance road connectivity across
Oman, particularly between the north and south. He added that the project will
boost economic and tourism activity.

The
first agreement was signed with an Omani-Saudi consortium comprising Al Sarooj
Construction Company (Oman) and Rawaf Contracting Company (Saudi Arabia). The
project involves constructing a 132.5 km dual carriageway with two lanes in
each direction, to be completed within 36 months.

The
second agreement was signed with an Omani-Saudi consortium comprising Galfar
Engineering & Contracting (Oman) and Al-Omair Trading & Contracting
(Saudi Arabia). The 135 km dual carriageway project will take 36 months to
complete.

The
third agreement was signed with an Omani-Saudi consortium comprising Gulf Oman
Company (Oman) and Koom Al Fahd Trading, Industry & Contracting (Saudi
Arabia). The 132.5 km dual carriageway will also be completed in 36 months.

The
three sections complement previously dualized stretches from Adam to Haima (317
km). Once completed, the road will form Oman’s longest dual carriageway, linking
Muscat to Dhofar. The project will enhance road safety, reduce accidents,
improve traffic flow, and stimulate economic, social, and tourism activity
along the route. It will also boost logistics connectivity across Oman’s
governorates, extending to Dhofar in the south, while creating opportunities
for new economic and urban development.

The
signing ceremony was attended by Sultan Salim Al Habsi, Minister of Finance,
Eng. Badr Salim Al Mamari, Secretary-General of the Tender Board, Sheikh Ahmed
Musalam Al Kathiri, Governor of Al Wusta, Eng. Khamis Mohammed Al Shammakhi,
Undersecretary of the Ministry of Transport, Communications, and IT for
Transport; Ahmed Hamad Al Maawali, Wali of Thumrait, senior ministry officials
and representatives from the Saudi Fund for Development.
