Amman, May 14 (Petra) – Minister of Youth Eng. Yazan Shdeifat affirmed the ministry’s ongoing efforts to create an enabling environment within youth centers that empowers young people to develop their skills and enhance their engagement in public life.

During a meeting on Wednesday with members of the “Children of the Leader, Descendants of the Nabataeans” youth team from the Petra District, attended by MP Yousef Rawadieh, Shdeifat emphasized the crucial role of volunteerism in instilling both personal and social values. He noted that the Al Hussein Bin Abdullah II Award for Voluntary Service was established to honor volunteers and highlight the lasting impact of their contributions in line with the principles of social solidarity.

He added that youth political, economic, and skill-based empowerment is a top priority for the ministry, which is being pursued through programs and initiatives aligned with the needs of the time and the directives of His Majesty King Abdullah II to support and prepare youth as future leaders and agents of change.

Members of the youth team delivered a brief presentation outlining the team’s founding idea and mission, driven by a sense of national belonging and a desire to make a meaningful youth-led impact from the heart of Petra.

They also discussed key challenges facing youth in the district and proposed several practical solutions and ideas aimed at developing the local youth and volunteer work ecosystem and increasing its presence in the community.
