Amman, May 15 (Petra) – The Jordanian-Greek Parliamentary Friendship Association, chaired by MP Hail Ayyash, met Thursday with Greek Ambassador to Jordan Irene Riga to discuss ways to deepen bilateral cooperation, particularly in the parliamentary arena.

Ayyash highlighted the depth and historic strength of Jordanian-Greek relations, describing them as a model of effective partnership that extends beyond traditional diplomatic ties to cover a broad range of sectors.

He underscored tourism as a key area for collaboration, pointing to Jordan’s potential to attract Greek tourists through religious, medical, and cultural tourism offerings. He also called for enhanced investment between the countries’ private sectors to stimulate economic growth and job creation.

Deputy Speaker of the Lower House Huda Naffa echoed these sentiments, describing Jordanian-Greek relations as a strategic partnership spanning political, economic, and legislative domains. She emphasized shared perspectives on regional security and stability, and encouraged cooperation in transport, clean energy, and cultural tourism.

Riga reaffirmed Greece’s commitment to strengthening ties with Jordan, particularly in economic and trade sectors. She emphasized the importance of facilitating visits by Greek business delegations to explore investment prospects and potential joint ventures.

She praised Jordan’s stabilizing role in the region under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah II and confirmed her country’s support through the European Union for Jordan’s efforts in promoting peace and stability. Riga added that Jordan’s legislative environment offers a promising platform for economic cooperation, particularly in transportation, clean energy, and tourism.

The ambassador also underscored the value of parliamentary ties in fostering mutual understanding and technical exchange, expressing Greece’s willingness to expand student exchange and collaboration in higher education and research.

Members of the association MPs Iyad Jabreen, Hussein Amoush, Shaher Shatnawi, and Naseem Abbadi voiced their support for enhancing cooperation across multiple sectors to serve the shared interests of both nations.
