Amman, May 15 (Petra) – Director General of the Jordan Customs Department (JCD) Brig. Gen. Ahmad Akalik, on Thursday discussed steps to revamp Strategic Plan for 2026-2028 during an expanded dialogue with several strategic partners at the King Abdullah II Center for Excellence.

According to a JCD statement, the meeting comes as part of the ongoing efforts to develop customs work and strengthen partnerships with the Kingdom’s various relevant institutions.

The discussions went over the key challenges and future opportunities, reviewing the outcomes of the current strategic plan and extent of fulfilling the desired goals, mainly enhancing operational efficiency, facilitating trade, strengthening customs security, and supporting digital transformation.

During the meeting, Akalik noted the importance of integrating the JCD’s efforts and its partners from the public and private sectors, adding that development of the next strategic plan will be conducted within a participatory approach to meet aspirations of all parties to serve the national economy and enhance the department’s position regionally and internationally.

Meanwhile, partners praised the JCD’s “positive” step to engage them in the stages of drafting and updating the strategic plan.

Affirming their “readiness” to provide support and proposals, they said this effort would contribute to developing the customs work system, in line with government institutional values ??in the coming years, as part of the framework of the public sector modernization roadmap and administrative reform.

The strategy, which is supported by Governance Improvement Project, is implemented by the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) with funding from German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development.
