Amman, Sept. 11 (Petra)– Jordan Customs Department’s Anti-Smuggling Directorate, in cooperation with security agencies, seized on Thursday 13,100 cartons of smuggled cigarettes along with 2,130 e-cigarettes, 13,800 packs of e-liquids and vape juices, 610 kilograms of hookah tobacco, and 8,250 cigars in two separate cases.
In a statement, the department said the confiscated items were placed under custody pending legal action, as they pose serious health risks to citizens and negatively impact the national economy by entering the local market without meeting Jordanian standards or being cleared by health regulatory authorities.
The department urged citizens to report any suspicions of smuggling or harmful and counterfeit goods that could harm the national economy by calling the toll-free number 105.
