5 Million Mobile Internet Subscriptions in Oman

Muscat,
16 Sep (ONA) — The latest data from the National Center for Statistics and
Information (NCSI) shows that Oman’s telecommunications sector continued to
achieve remarkable growth rates by the end of July 2025.

The
statistics reveal that the total number of mobile service subscriptions reached
8,153,859 by the end of July 2025, a 15.5% increase compared to the same period
in 2024.

Postpaid
mobile subscriptions increased by 3.3% to 1,241,626, while prepaid
subscriptions rose by 4.9% to 5,342,870.

Internet
of Things (IoT) subscriptions saw exceptional growth of 105%, reaching 1,569,363.

As
for internet services, mobile broadband subscriptions rose to 5,595,686, while fixed
broadband subscriptions increased by 2.9% to 591,972.

Fiber
optic subscriptions grew by 11.2% to 344,505 and fixed 5G subscriptions
increased by 1.8% to 217,657.

In
contrast, subscriptions for some older technologies declined as fixed 4G subscriptions
dropped by 41.2% to 17,261 and Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) subscriptions fell
by 47.5% to 11,036.

Satellite
subscriptions, however, increased by 13% to 754.

Meanwhile,
other subscriptions (including internet over power lines, Ethernet, and leased
lines) decreased by 11.9% to 759 by the end of July 2025.
