Initiative Launched in Aqaba to Ease entry of Foreign Tourists

Aqaba, Sept. 22 (Petra) – The Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority (ASEZA), in cooperation with Ayla Oasis, has launched an initiative to facilitate entry for foreign tourists to Jordan via Aqaba, getting their passports stamped directly at the Ayla Oasis project site and exempting them from departure visa fees.

The initiative provides tourists with a departure fee exemption card if they enter Aqaba within 48 hours of arrival, in a move aimed at encouraging tourism to the Sea Port city, ASEZA said in a statement on Monday.

It seeks to simplify procedures for visitors and ensure a smoother experience from the moment of arrival, thereby strengthening Aqaba’s position as a leading regional and global tourism and investment destination, it said.

As part of ongoing efforts to encourage investment and support major tourism projects, ASEZA said the initiative aligns with its strategic plans to position Aqaba as Jordan’s maritime gateway and a sustainable capital for tourism and investment.

Ayla Oasis Public Relations Manager Mansour Kabariti described the initiative as a significant achievement for Jordan’s tourism sector, making entry easier for foreign visitors and exempting them from visa fees.

The move will boost Aqaba’s competitiveness on the global tourism and investment map, attracting more visitors from various markets while positively impacting the local economy and strengthening tourism sector investments, he said.
