Amman, Sept. 22 (Petra) – The Public Security Directorate (PSD) said the Anti-Narcotics Department dealt with eight drug smuggling cases across Jordan in recent days, arresting 14 traffickers and promoters and seizing quantities of narcotics.
Personnel foiled an attempt to smuggle in 200,000 narcotic pills at the Jaber border crossing with Syria, which were stashed in a vehicle tire. Four suspects linked to international drug gangs were apprehended.
Officers also intercepted a postal parcel containing 1.7 kg of crystal meth, identifying the recipient and arresting two suspects.
In Karak, a drug dealer was arrested with hashish tablets in his possession, while in Aqaba, two suspects were detained with 22 hashish tablets. In Amman, two dealers were arrested with six tablets.
In Zarqa, police seized 4,000 narcotic pills and three hashish tablets, while in Ma’an a dealer was arrested with a firearm, 12 hashish tablets, and 2,600 pills. In Mafraq, police seized 4,000 pills and 12 hashish tablets from a dealer.
