Minister Meets with UN Secretary-General

York, 28 Sep (ONA) — Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, Foreign Minister, met
with António Guterres, Secretary-General of the United Nations, at his office
at the UN headquarters in New York.

The
Foreign Minister conveyed His Majesty the Sultan’s greetings and best wishes to
the UN Secretary-General for success in his international and humanitarian work
and efforts.

For
his part, António Guterres asked the Foreign Minister to convey his greetings
and sincere wishes to His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik.

During
the meeting, they discussed the ongoing cooperation between the Sultanate of
Oman and the United Nations and stressed the importance of continuing joint
efforts to support peace and sustainable development.

The
two sides also exchanged views on the most pressing current international
challenges, particularly the humanitarian situation in Gaza. Both sides
stressed the urgent need for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, intensified
pressure to allow relief supplies to reach the population, alleviate the
suffering of civilians, and advance the path toward just political solutions.

The
meeting was attended by Sheikh Abdulaziz bin Abdullah Al Hinai, Ambassador at Large,
Omar bin Said Al Kathiri, Permanent Representative of the Sultanate of Oman to
the United Nations, Sheikh Humaid bin Ali Al Maani, Head of the Diplomatic
Academy, and a number of officials from both sides.
