Minister Discusses Means of Enhancing Cooperation with Counterparts

York, 28 Sep (ONA) — Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, Foreign Minister, met,
separately, Sihasak Phuangketkeow, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom
of Thailand; Luca Beccari, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Political Affairs,
International Economic Cooperation and Digital Transition of the Republic of San
Marino and Vivian Balakrishnan, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of
Singapore.
These
meetings were held on the sidelines of the 80th session of the United Nations
General Assembly in New York.
During
the meetings, the ministers discussed ways to enhance cooperation in
diplomatic, commercial, and cultural fields. They also exchanged views on
current regional and international issues, emphasizing the importance of
encouraging dialogue and understanding in international forums.
The
meetings were attended by a number of officials.
On
a separate note, a reception was held under the auspices of Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, Foreign Minister, to mark the modernization of the Oman Corridor inside
the United Nations Headquarters building in New York, which was first
inaugurated in 1986.
The
opening ceremony was attended by Amina Mohammed, Deputy Secretary-General of
the United Nations, and Annalena Baerbock, President of the 80th Session of the
General Assembly, along with several high-level international figures,
representatives of member states, and diplomats.
This
corridor serves as a message from the Sultanate of Oman as a friend to all, a
country whose diplomacy is based on dialogue and cooperation.
The
cultural space displays a collection of Omani artifacts that express the values
of peace, sustainability, and openness. These include the Omani Khanjar
(dagger), which is inscribed on UNESCO’s Intangible Cultural Heritage list,
traditional pieces of heritage and jewelry, miniature models of frankincense
burners, and a special display on the art of shipbuilding, such as the Jewel of
Muscat, which reflects Oman’s historical role in connecting continents and
peoples.
The
Foreign Minister affirmed that this cultural space reflects Oman’s vision for
promoting the values of peace and coexistence and highlights its contributions
to supporting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by drawing inspiration
from its civilizational legacy and utilizing it to serve the present and
future.
For
their part, the Deputy Secretary-General and the President of the Session
expressed their appreciation for the initiative, affirming that it will be a
qualitative addition for visitors to the United Nations and a center that
inspires the values of partnership and mutual respect.
