2 Dec 2025 (ONA) — Abdulsalam bin Mohammed Al Murshidi, Chairman of Oman
Investment Authority (OIA), received today at his office Eng. Yacine El-Mahdi
Oualid, Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development and Fisheries of the
People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria.

During
the meeting, the existing cooperation areas between the two countries in the agricultural,
fisheries, and food sectors were reviewed. They discussed opportunities to enhance
partnership and expand cooperation horizons, particularly in investment aspects
related to food production chains, developing joint projects, and attracting
qualitative investments that support food security and the development of
related industries.

The
two sides discussed the potential for establishing joint investment projects in
the fields of agricultural, animal, and fish production, in addition to developing
the supporting infrastructure for these sectors to achieve mutual interests for
both countries.

The
meeting was attended by a number of officials from both sides.

Meanwhile,
the Algerian Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development and Fisheries and his
accompanying delegation visited the Central Market for Vegetables and Fruits in
Salalah and the Central Wholesale Market in Khazaen Economic City. During the
visit, he was briefed on the work system followed in the operation of central
markets, the mechanisms for trading agricultural products, and the organization
of the supply chain.

The
guest also reviewed the advanced experiences in managing wholesale operations,
marketing methods, and digitalization applications in product tracking and enhancing
the efficiency of services provided to farmers and traders.

The
visit also included the Central Wholesale Fish Market in the Wilayat of Barka,
where the Algerian delegation learned about the market’s facilities and the modern
systems adopted in trading, sorting, and refrigerated storage operations, in
addition to the procedures followed to ensure the safety and quality of marine
products.

This
visit comes within the framework of enhancing cooperation and exchanging
expertise between the Sultanate of Oman and the People’s Democratic Republic of
Algeria in the fields of agriculture and fisheries, and developing related
market systems and services.
