NCSI Obtains ISO Certification in Management of
Privacy

Muscat, 2 Dec 2025 (ONA) — The National
Center for Statistics and Information (NCSI) has obtained the “ISO 27701”
certificate related to the privacy information management system.

The certificate, granted by the International
Organization for Standardization (ISO), constitutes an extension of the ISO
27001 certification for the Information Security Management System (ISMS).

Dr. Khalifa bin Abdullah Al Barwani, Chief
Executive Officer of the National Center for Statistics and Information (NCSI),
said that the NCSI’s obtaining the ISO 27701 certification was a direct outcome
of the Centre’s ongoing efforts to establish a secure statistical and
information environment that is capable of protecting personal data and
applying the highest privacy standards in digital platforms.

Al Barwani added that this accomplishment
reflects the NCSI’s commitment to develop comprehensive systems and apply policies
that ensure the transparent management and processing of data, enhanced by compliance
with criteria associated with global standards, including the protection of data
privacy.

The ISO 27701 certification is distinguished by
establishing a comprehensive framework for managing and processing personal
data in a secure and transparent manner. It also enables organizations to abide
by privacy legislation like the GDPR. It thereby contributes to defining clear
roles and responsibilities for controllers and data processors within an
organization, thus consolidating the efficiency of governance and improving regulatory
procedures.

It is worth noting that the ISO/IEC
27701:2022 certification is granted by the ISO, a UKAS Accredited Certification
Body in the United Kingdom that specializes in developing management systems,
training, performance evaluation, service quality and internationally applied quality measurements.
