Amman, March 8 (Petra) – The Eastern Military Zone of the Jordan Armed Forces thwarted four attempts at dawn on Sunday to smuggle large quantities of narcotics carried by electronically guided balloons.
Border Guard units detected the balloons and dealt with them, bringing down their payloads inside Jordanian territory in coordination with security agencies and the Anti-Narcotics Department. The seized materials were transferred to the competent authorities to take the necessary measures.
In a separate incident, the Northern Military Zone on Saturday foiled an attempt by four people of Arab nationalities to infiltrate one of its border fronts while attempting to cross the border illegally.
Border Guard forces detected four individuals, applying the rules of engagement. They were arrested without injuries and referred to the competent authorities for legal proceedings.
