Brussels, June 02 (QNA) – The European Union reiterated its call for Israel to halt its military escalation in Lebanon and respect its sovereignty and territorial integrity.
European Union’s Spokesman for Foreign Affairs Anouar El Anouni said at a press conference in Brussels that the EU encourages continued engagement with ongoing diplomatic efforts, including those led by the United States and international partners, aimed at securing a negotiated path towards long-term stability and security.
The European Union stands in solidarity with the Lebanese people and will continue to provide support and emergency assistance to help the authorities address the current crisis, he added.
Israel continues its attacks on areas in southern Lebanon despite the ceasefire agreement that came into effect on April 16 and was extended for a second time on May 15 for 45 days, amid international and UN warnings of a deteriorating security and humanitarian situation in the region. (QNA)
