Amman, June 2 (Petra) – The Public Security Directorate (PSD)
released an official briefing Tuesday detailing a fatal shooting
incident from the previous day, refuting online narratives attempting
to justify the suspect’s deployment of a firearm against civilians
and responding law enforcement personnel.
The PSD media spokesperson stated that active investigations,
eyewitness depositions, and statements from all primary actors –
including the suspect’s son – contradict claims of a long-standing
history of cross-complaints between the disputing parties.
According to the case file, responding units initially noted a minor
neighborly dispute two days prior, which concluded without any
official police reports filed. The conflict resurfaced yesterday,
escalating into a physical altercation. The suspect then produced a
firearm and discharged multiple rounds indiscriminately into the
crowd. The gunfire fatally wounded a bystander who was attempting to
break up the fight and was not an active party to the dispute.
The spokesperson cautioned against the dissemination of unverified
claims that compromise public order. The PSD reiterated that updates
must be sourced directly from official channels, noting that the
directorate has maintained operational transparency throughout the
investigation.
Meanwhile, the Cybercrimes Unit is actively monitoring online
platforms to track down individuals fabricating details or defaming
the deceased and injured victims. The PSD confirmed that the evidence
profile and the suspect are being transferred to the judiciary today
for formal arraignment.
