Amman, June 10 (Petra) – The Public Prosecutor’s Office has decided
to charge MP Wissam Arbihat with money laundering and illegal
fundraising, according to a source who spoke to the Jordan News
Agency (Petra) on Wednesday.
After hearing witness testimonies and obtaining confessions, the
Public Prosecutor’s Office decided to freeze Arbihat’s assets, impose
a travel ban on him and issue a judicial arrest warrant for him to
hear his statements regarding the charges against him.
The Public Prosecutor’s Office has detained one of the defendants in
the case pending investigation, according to the same source.
The Public Prosecutor’s Office had been investigating the case for
several months before bringing charges against individuals for
receiving funds and transfers through the “Click” platform in
violation of the law.
Receiving and collecting funds without a license constitutes a felony
under the law, as the collection was carried out in a suspicious
manner and the funds did not originate from any economic or
commercial activity, nor were they commensurate with the work of the
individuals summoned or the nature of their income sources.
