Amman, June 11 (Petra) – The Ministry of Social Development released
its report on achievements for last May, highlighting its key
services for the target groups across the Kingdom.

In a press statement on Thursday, the ministry stated it received
7,516 applications to issue health insurance cards and 177 others to
obtain exemption from paying medical expenses.

The ministry also processed 140 requests for inheritance settlement
services and 1,367 applications to issue work permit exemptions.

According to the report, 50 children were admitted to residential
care homes, while 31 others were discharged. Nine children were
placed with foster families, and 5 new nurseries were licensed.

The report indicated that 242 women and children benefited from
services of the Social Service Offices – Family and Juvenile
Protection Department.

Meanwhile, a total of 252 juveniles benefited from services of the
Ministry’s juvenile rehabilitation and training centers, of whom 96
received vocational rehabilitation programs.

Regarding working children, 27 received psychological and social
services and interventions, in accordance with the case management
methodology.

Additionally, 755 beneficiaries received services provided by the
Social Service Offices in reform and rehabilitation centers.

To date, the cumulative number of registered and active associations
under the current Associations Law reached 5,975.

Thirteen new associations were registered, while 141 others submitted
requests to amend their bylaws, and 22 associations were dissolved.

Concerning the work of the Anti-Vagrancy Directorate, the report
revealed 572 anti-begging campaigns were conducted, during which 810
beggars were arrested.

According to the report’s data on the National Aid Fund (NAF)’s
activities, a total of 42,090 uderpriviliged families benefited from
the monthly financial assistance program, while 531 households
benefited from the training program.

The data also showed the response rate to calls received by the fund
stood at 100%.
