Amman, June 15 (Petra) – China on Monday welcomed the announcement of
an agreement on a memorandum of understanding between the US and
Iran, which includes a ceasefire and the reopening of the Strait of
Hormuz.
According to Xinhua News Agency, Chinese Foreign Ministry
spokesperson Lin Jian expressed hope that the US and Iran would sign
the first-phase memorandum of understanding as scheduled.
He urged all parties to commit to peaceful solutions and resolving
differences through dialogue and negotiation.
Lin said that China is ready to work with the international community
to play a role in restoring peace and stability to the Middle East
and Gulf region at the earliest opportunity.
