Amman, June 15 (Petra) — Secretary-General of the Ministry of Awqaf
and Islamic Affairs Ismail Al Khatba attended on Monday evening a
ceremony marking the completion of a full Quran recitation as part of
the initiative launched by His Majesty King Abdullah II.
Al Khatba said the royal initiative, which is implemented by the
ministry in mosques across the Kingdom throughout the year, aims to
strengthen the religious and educational role of mosques and
encourage the regular recitation and completion of the Quran through
organized study circles.
Under the initiative, participants complete 12 full Quran recitations
annually, at a rate of one complete recitation each month.
He explained that the program is based on reciting one-quarter of a
hizb after each of the five daily prayers, enabling participants to
complete the entire Quran every month under the supervision of
qualified mosque imams, preachers, muezzins and instructors from
Quranic learning centers.
Al Khatba stressed that the initiative helps revitalize the role of
mosques as centers of worship and education, strengthens people’s
connection with the Holy Quran, and promotes the values of reflection
and recitation among all segments of society.
