Occupied Jerusalem, June 16 (Petra)– Groups of extremist Jewish
settlers stormed the courtyards of the Al-Aqsa Mosque
compound/Al-Haram Al-Sharif in occupied Jerusalem on Tuesday morning
under heavy protection from Israeli occupation police, amid ongoing
calls for worshipers to maintain a presence at the holy site.
According to a statement issued by the Jerusalem Governorate, dozens
of hardline settlers entered the Al-Aqsa compound, conducted what
were described as provocative tours, and performed Talmudic rituals
inside the mosque’s courtyards. The statement added that Israeli
police provided tight security for the settlers and closed all
external gates of the compound to facilitate the incursions.
The governorate noted that violations by extremist Jewish groups at
the site continue, including collective prayers, singing, dancing,
and the raising of Israeli flags within the compound.
Meanwhile, Jerusalemite groups have renewed calls for Palestinians to
confront and resist what they described as ongoing violations against
the holy site.
