San Francisco, June 22 (Petra) — Jordanian lawmaker Ayatullah
Freihat, representing the lower house of parliament, described the
national football team’s qualification for the World Cup as a
historic milestone that transcends sports to embody a broader
national success story.

Freihat made the remarks during a diaspora community celebration held
in San Francisco to support the team, known as the “Nashama,”
according to a parliamentary statement released on Monday.

The event was attended by members of the Jordanian diaspora and
representatives from various Arab communities. The parliamentary
delegation also included Moayad Al-Alawneh, chairman of the lower
house Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship Committee, and lawmaker
Abdel-Halim Al-Ananbeh.

Freihat relayed the greetings of the parliament’s speaker and members
to the attendees, noting that the gathering underlines the strong
ties connecting Jordan with its citizens abroad.

The celebration is a tribute to Jordan’s collective ability to unite
behind a single goal and raise its flag on the international stage,
Freihat said. He added that reaching the World Cup finals serves as a
major national milestone, demonstrating that determination can
overcome structural challenges.

Freihat commended the organizers and attendees, specifically praising
the Nashama Fan Association, the Jordanian American Association of
San Francisco, and expatriates who have actively supported the squad.

He also expressed appreciation for the participation of broader Arab
community groups, particularly the Palestinian diaspora, noting that
shared ties of history and solidarity reinforce the fraternal
relations between the two peoples.

The national team’s success reflects Jordan’s capacity to transform
logistical and resource challenges into opportunities, Freihat
stated. He noted that the ongoing support from King Abdullah II and
Crown Prince Hussein bin Abdullah II serves as a vital catalyst for
national achievement across various sectors, including sports.

Freihat concluded by stating that qualification for football’s
premier global tournament provides a living testament to what
Jordanians can accomplish through collective will, reaffirming that
