Amman, June 22 (Petra) — Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of
Foreign and Expatriate Affairs Ayman Safadi received on Monday the
Vice President of the European Commission and European Union High
Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas.

The meeting coincided with Jordan’s hosting of the Arab Consultative
Meeting and the reconvened ordinary session of the 165th Council of
the Arab League at the ministerial level.

Safadi and Kallas discussed mechanisms to strengthen the strategic
partnership between Jordan and the European Union, exploring avenues
to expand bilateral cooperation across various sectors.

The two officials reviewed ongoing diplomatic efforts aimed at
de-escalating heightened tensions in the region. They emphasized the
critical importance of achieving a comprehensive resolution grounded
in international law and the principles of good neighborly relations
to guarantee long-term security and stability.

Turning to developments in the Palestinian territories, Safadi
stressed the urgent need to halt illegal Israeli measures in the
occupied West Bank. He highlighted the expansion of settlements,
settler violence, land confiscation, and ongoing violations against
Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem.

Safadi and Kallas concluded by reaffirming their commitment to
enhancing Jordan-EU relations and maintaining close coordination on
regional and international issues of mutual interest.
