Aqaba, June 22 (Petra) — Thousands of football fans in Jordan’s
coastal city of Aqaba will gather at the Great Arab Revolt Plaza on
Tuesday morning to rally behind the national team, the “Nashama,” in
their highly anticipated World Cup match against Algeria.

The landmark public square, which holds immense symbolic value as a
monument to the Great Arab Revolt and national unity, has been
transformed to host Aqaba’s primary public screening for Jordan’s
historic tournament appearance.

Preparations are complete at the plaza, which has been decorated with
Jordanian flags and equipped with four giant display screens
positioned across the venue to accommodate thousands of spectators in
a secure, family-friendly fan zone.

Yaser Al Shawabkeh, General Manager of Aqaba Facilities Management
Company (AFMCO)- Marafiq, told the Jordan News Agency (Petra) that
selecting the Great Arab Revolt Plaza to broadcast the match carries
a message that transcends sport due to the site’s unifying historical
significance.

Gathering under the monumental flag of the Great Arab Revolt lends
this sporting occasion a distinct national character, Al Shawabkeh
said, adding that the upcoming fixture is a highly anticipated
milestone for the entire country.

He noted that the plaza has become the premier hub for national
celebrations in Aqaba. The collective public screening will provide
local families and visitors an opportunity to support the squad
together, reflecting the deep public pride in the team’s World Cup
run and their confidence in a strong performance on the global stage.
