Amman, June 23 (Petra) – House Speaker Mazen Qadi and Azerbaijani
Prime Minister Ali Asadov agreed to deepen political, economic, and
parliamentary cooperation on Tuesday, pointing to opportunities for
stronger investment ties and expanded connectivity.

Qadi called for rolling out a regular, direct air route between
Jordan and Azerbaijan, noting that improved air connectivity would
boost tourism, facilitate business travel, and strengthen trade and
investment links.

The officials noted the strength of Jordan-Azerbaijan relations,
recognizing the support of His Majesty King Abdullah II and President
Ilham Aliyev.

Qadi said Amman and Baku are ready to move beyond traditional
cooperation toward a broader strategic partnership focused on
investment, trade, energy, technology, tourism, and cultural and
educational exchange.

He called for increasing trade volumes, encouraging investment flows
through stable and investor-friendly legislation, and expanding
infrastructure, transport, logistics, and market connectivity. Qadi
also urged collaboration in technology, artificial intelligence, and
the knowledge economy to support sustainable growth.

Qadi addressed regional issues, echoing Jordan’s support for
diplomatic solutions to conflicts, adding that lasting peace in the
Middle East can only be achieved through a two-state solution that
guarantees an independent and sovereign Palestinian state. He
discussed the safeguarding of Islamic and Christian holy sites in
Jerusalem under the Hashemite Custodianship.

Asadov, in turn, described Jordan as a key regional partner and
conveyed Azerbaijan’s commitment to expanding cooperation across
sectors, including energy, industry, tourism, agriculture, education,
logistics, technology, and digital transformation.

He revealed Azerbaijan plans to introduce two weekly direct flights
between the two countries.
