Amman, July 8 (Petra)– The Ministry of Public Works and Housing has
launched a major rehabilitation project on Airport Road, with
overnight construction beginning Wednesday on the stretch between
Al-Zaytoonah University and Madaba Bridge as part of a wider
infrastructure improvement program across the Kingdom’s central
region.

The six-month project, valued at nearly JD 2 million, aims to improve
road quality, strengthen safety measures, and enhance stormwater
management along one of the Kingdom’s busiest transport corridors.

The works will involve removing worn asphalt, repairing damaged
sections of pavement, resurfacing the roadway, and carrying out
earthworks where needed. Crews will also install fresh road markings,
upgrade traffic safety features, and maintain drainage channels and
other water infrastructure to improve the road’s long-term
performance.

To reduce disruption for commuters, construction will be limited to
overnight hours under a phased traffic management plan developed in
coordination with the Central Traffic Department and the Highway
Patrol. Temporary lane diversions and warning signs will be in place
throughout the project.

Work will run from midnight until 6 a.m. on weekdays, while Friday
and Saturday shifts will extend from 1 a.m. to 10 a.m. The schedule
is designed to keep daytime traffic flowing while allowing
construction to progress efficiently.

The Airport Road project is one component of a broader maintenance
contract covering several key routes in the kingdom’s central
region. The ministry recently completed rehabilitation works on the
Muwaqqar Road between the Training City and Faisaliyah Intersection,
Al-Salam Road leading to the Dead Sea, and the Salt Ring Road between
Dababah Bridge and Zai Bridge.

The ministry called on motorists to drive carefully through
construction zones, observe temporary traffic controls, and follow
the directions of traffic police and on-site crews to help ensure
public safety and the timely completion of the project.
