Irbid, July 15 (Petra) –The Irbid Chamber of Commerce and the Rural
Damascus Chamber of Commerce, signed a twinning and cooperation
agreement on Tuesday to strengthen economic relations between Jordan
and Syria and enhance collaboration between private sector
institutions.

The agreement was signed at the Rural Damascus Chamber during a visit
by a delegation from the Irbid Chamber’s board of directors to Syria.
It was signed by Irbid Chamber President Mohammad Al-Shouha and Rural
Damascus Chamber President Abdul Rahim Ziyadah, with the
participation of members from both chambers, Jordanian-Syrian
Business Council President Imad Adnan Al-Nan, and representatives
from the business community.

Al-Shouha said the agreement would enhance cooperation between the
two chambers and support efforts to address challenges facing traders
and businesses by improving coordination with relevant authorities in
both countries. He added that the agreement aims to facilitate the
movement of goods and strengthen trade exchange.

He pointed to the close historical and economic connections between
Irbid and Daraa, describing Irbid as the Kingdom’s northern gateway
and a natural link to Syria, which creates opportunities for greater
economic cooperation.

Ziyadah said the agreement provides a practical framework for
advancing Jordanian-Syrian economic relations, expanding investment
opportunities, and supporting trade activities that serve businesses
in both countries.

He emphasized the importance of developing joint economic initiatives
based on the longstanding relations between the two countries,
including projects that support development and create opportunities
for entrepreneurs and investors.

The two chambers will prepare joint programmes covering business
delegation exchanges, economic exhibitions and forums, investment
information sharing, and direct communication between business
communities.

Al-Nan said the Jordanian-Syrian Business Council would work with
both chambers to monitor the implementation of the agreement and help
translate its objectives into practical initiatives that contribute
to increasing trade exchange, promoting mutual investment, and
strengthening business links.

Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to continued coordination to
implement the agreement, support the private sector, address economic
challenges, and contribute to sustainable economic growth.
