Khartoum, 4 August 2026 (SUNA) – The Inspection and Monitoring Department of the Supreme Council for Environment and Urban and Rural Development in Khartoum State conducted a field inspection campaign in the Garri Industrial Area to ensure compliance with environmental requirements and safety standards. The campaign, supervised by the Council’s Secretary-General Ghada Hussein Al-Awad, focused on monitoring industrial operations and verifying adherence to the provisions of the Environmental Protection and Promotion Law (2008, amended 2020) and related regulations. The inspection resulted in the detection of several violations. The Council reviewed the affected factories, provided them with the required environmental guidelines, and instructed them to obtain environmental approval and maintain environmental records before resuming operations. The Council said the campaigns aim to assess compliance with environmental standards, reduce pollution, ensure the safe disposal of hazardous waste, and address environmental violations.BH/BH
