Cairo, August 13 (QNA) – The Arab League condemned Thursday the Israeli escalation in the occupied Palestinian territories and southern Lebanon, warning that continued escalation could push the region toward an increasingly difficult-to-contain crisis.
Arab League Secretary-General Nabil Fahmy said Israeli actions in the West Bank and Jerusalem, including raids, arrests, home demolitions and settler violence, are escalating, alongside near-daily settler incursions into Al Aqsa Mosque under Israeli police protection and tighter restrictions on Muslim worshipers.
He also condemned settler attacks in the town of Qusra, south of Nablus, saying Israeli forces and settler violence aim to seize Palestinian land, impose new realities and undermine the establishment of an independent Palestinian state. 
He held the Israeli government fully responsible for protecting civilians under international law.
Fahmy also condemned continued Israeli attacks in southern Lebanon, including the destruction of a municipal building, school, clinic, kindergarten and homes in Zoutr Al Sharqiya, calling the targeting of civilian infrastructure a serious violation of international humanitarian law.
The Arab League called on the international community, particularly the UN Security Council, to take urgent action against Israel over its actions in the occupied territories and neighboring countries. (QNA)
