Doha, August 25 (QNA) – National Archives of Qatar, in cooperation with the International Basketball Federation (FIBA), will launch the “Beyond the Court” exhibition this Thursday at the Cultural Village Foundation (Katara). The exhibition will run until March 27, 2027.
The exhibition offers a documentary and interactive experience highlighting the history and global legacy of basketball, tracing the sport’s development and journey to Qatar through diverse content combining history, sport and documentary heritage.
It features a range of archival materials and selected historical memorabilia, alongside interactive activities allowing visitors to explore key milestones in basketball’s history and legacy.
The exhibition also explores the history of basketball in Qatar, featuring recorded interviews with prominent figures who contributed to the development of the sport locally and regionally as part of the oral history project. The interviews capture their testimonies and memories of key stages in the sport’s development.
The exhibition aims to raise awareness of basketball’s history and connect its global legacy with the sport’s journey in Qatar, as part of the country’s preparations to host the 2027 FIBA Basketball World Cup. (QNA)
