Khartoum, August 30, 2026 (SUNA) – Federal Minister of Health Professor Haitham Mohamed Ibrahim on Sunday discussed with a visiting Turkish Ministry of Health delegation ways to strengthen bilateral health cooperation and develop relations between the two countries.  The meeting, held at his office in Khartoum, was attended by Federal Ministry of Health Undersecretary Dr. Ali Babiker Sayed Ahmed and a number of senior health officials. The Minister expressed his appreciation to Türkiye for its continued support to Sudan, reviewing the current health situation and the extensive damage inflicted on the health sector as a result of attacks by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia on health facilities and infrastructure. He called for enhanced cooperation between the two countries and the activation of existing agreements in the fields of hospitals, medicines, training and patient treatment. He stressed the importance of translating the Turkish delegation’s visit into practical projects and programmes that improve health services and meet citizens’ needs. The Minister said the delegation’s programme includes visits to Al-Gezira and Khartoum states, as well as the Medical Commission, the National Medicines and Poisons Board (NMPB), and the National Medical Supplies Fund (NMSF). He noted that the visit represents an important step toward more effective health cooperation that would contribute to developing medical services and strengthening health-sector infrastructure. For its part, the Turkish delegation affirmed Türkiye’s commitment to continuing its support for Sudan in the health sector, expressing its readiness to expand bilateral cooperation in ways that contribute to developing medical services and improving health infrastructure.BH/BH
