Amman, Sept. 21 (Petra) — The Senate’s Jordanian-Moroccan Friendship
Committee met on Monday with Moroccan Ambassador to Jordan Fouad
Akhrif to discuss ways to strengthen relations between the two
countries.

Chair of the committee Senator Rakan Fawaz said His Majesty King
Abdullah II is keen on further cementing the historic relations with
Morocco and expanding political, economic, cultural and investment
cooperation.

He called for encouraging the private sector in both countries to
build joint, sustainable partnerships, stressing the role of
parliamentary diplomacy, through continued visits and exchanges, in
boosting bilateral ties.

Akhrif pointed to Jordan’s support of Arab causes, foremost of which
is the Palestinian issue, urging closer coordination between the two
countries on regional issues.

Jordanian-Moroccan relations are a model in the Arab world built on
mutual respect and common interests, said the envoy, adding he looked
forward to forging closer cultural and trade cooperation between the
two kingdoms.
