Tokyo, September 21 (QNA) – Qatar recorded strong performances across multiple events at the 20th Asian Games (Aichi-Nagoya 2026) on Monday.
In handball, Qatar defeated China 30-25 in Group A, staying on track to defend its three consecutive gold medals. Qatar and Japan now co-lead Group A with four points each, setting up a decisive group-stage finale on Friday.
In men’s 3×3 basketball, Qatar opened its campaign with back-to-back wins, defeating Indonesia 10-7 and Chinese Taipei 18-15.
In men’s table tennis, Qatar reached the Round of 16 after a 3-2 victory over Macao in Group 1. The women’s table tennis team lost 3-0 to Hong Kong in Group 5.
In artistic gymnastics, Rakan Mespher Al Harthi placed third in the rings qualifying round with 13.900 points, while Mehrdad Barat Ghadimi placed 14th with 13.400 points.
In shooting, Qatar completed strong runs in the men’s skeet and 10m air rifle events, with skeet and women’s 3×3 basketball competitions continuing Tuesday alongside esports debuts in eFootball and Gran Turismo 7. Weather-delayed equestrian events will also resume. (QNA)
