GFF Executive Office Awards Iraq
Hosting Rights for Gulf Cup 28

Jeddah, 28 Sep 2026 (ONA) — The
Executive Office of the Gulf Football Federation (GFF) held its meeting in the
city of Jeddah in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) today. The meeting was held
on the sidelines of the 27th Arabian Gulf Cup (Khaleeji Arabian Dyar 27),
chaired by Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, GFF President.

The meeting discussed the request of
Iraq Football Association to host the 28th edition of the Arabian Gulf Cup, which
is the only hosting request submitted by the member associations. The GFF Executive
Office approved the request and granted Iraq the right to organise the
tournament, in accordance with the regulations, statutes and criteria adopted
by the GFF.

Under the approval, Iraq Football
Association is committed to informing the GFF of the city that will host the
tournament within the specified period, and to completing the relevant
organisational requirements and procedures in accordance with the adopted
regulations and statutes for hosting the Federation’s tournaments.

The approval comes within the
framework of the GFF’s keenness to enhance cooperation and coordination with
the member national associations, and to continue developing the Gulf
tournaments system and supporting their hosting and organisation in a manner
that reinforces their standing.
