Tafilah, September 29 (Petra) The Tafilah Directorate of Education
discussed efforts to strengthen the national referral system for
persons with disabilities, with a focus on promoting inclusive
education and improving the quality of educational and rehabilitation
services provided to students.

The discussion took place during a meeting at the Directorate’s
offices, chaired by Director of Education Imran Lasasmeh and attended
by Director of Educational Affairs Jihan Safasfeh, members of the
Inclusive Education Steering Committee and schools representatives.

The meeting discussed inter-sectoral cooperation in field operations,
sustaining inclusive education services and addressing the
educational and rehabilitation needs of students with disabilities in
line with national strategies aimed at creating a comprehensive and
inclusive learning environment.

Participants reviewed feedback on the implementation of the national
referral system, discussed key operational challenges and obstacles
and examined procedural measures needed to improve the programme’s
effectiveness and sustainability.

The national referral system aims to ensure continuity of care and
coordination among educational institutions, health facilities and
other relevant stakeholders.

It is designed to facilitate timely access to appropriate services
for students with disabilities and provide continued support
throughout their various stages of education.

The meeting focused on the potential to turn observations and
challenges identified during implementation into sustainable
practices.

The practices include strengthening inclusive educational approaches,
improving the integration of students with disabilities into the
school system, empowering them to exercise their educational rights,
providing diverse and sustainable forms of support and ensuring the
continuity of these efforts.
