Khartoum, (SUNA) – Honorary Consul of the Republic of Burundi in Khartoum Dr. Abdullah Khalafallah Ahmed said that African Union Commission (AUC) Chairperson’s Special Envoy and Chair of the High-Level Panel on Sudan, Adolphe Oussery, affirmed the AU’s full support for national efforts to achieve stability in Sudan, stressing that “Sudan belongs to the Sudanese, and a solution will emerge only from the national will.” Khalafallah read out, during a press conference in Khartoum on Thursday, a statement following Oussery’s meeting with a delegation of the “Sudanese National Forces” led by Mohamed Sid Ahmed. The statement explained that the delegation handed the African envoy a memorandum affirming its adherence to the principle of “African solutions to African problems.” According to the statement, Oussery expressed his thanks and appreciation for the National Forces’ commitment to the cause of peace and their continued coordination, affirming that the mission of the African Union delegation is to strengthen and mobilize efforts in support of Sudanese-Sudanese dialogue. The statement noted that the African Union remains engaged and mobilized all its capacities to support peace and stability efforts, calling on all Sudanese parties to pursue the path of dialogue. Oussery, according to the statement, affirmed that “peace is possible whenever genuine will exists,” as efforts continue to support Sudanese-Sudanese dialogue and seek a path to end the war and pave the way for stability.BH/BH
