Khartoum, (SUNA) – Honorary Consul of the Republic of Burundi Dr. Abdullah Khalafallah affirmed that the initiative of Burundian President Évariste Ndayishimiye, the current Chairperson of the African Union, aims to strengthen direct communication with Sudanese political forces and support Sudanese-Sudanese dialogue as the fundamental approach to resolving the crisis. Khalafallah explained that the initiative involves holding direct meetings with various Sudanese political forces, which would enable the AU Chairperson to gain a deeper understanding of the components of the Sudanese political landscape and the positions of the various parties, while strengthening efforts to advance national dialogue. He said the meetings aim to enable the AU Chairperson to gain a clear understanding of the demands and visions of the Sudanese political forces individually, helping him provide the necessary support to the dialogue efforts, stressing that the solution should be Sudanese-Sudanese. The Honorary Consul noted that direct meetings with political forces provide an opportunity to hear their views firsthand and develop a comprehensive understanding of the Sudanese political reality, which would assist the AU Chairperson in dealing with ongoing initiatives and efforts to achieve peace, based on his commitment to supporting those efforts. In this context, Khalafallah conveyed a message from Burundian President Évariste Ndayishimiye following his reception of a delegation from the Sudanese National Forces Coordination, headed by Mohamed Sid Ahmed, and his receipt of a memorandum calling for activating the principle of African solutions to African problems. In his message, according to the Honorary Consul, the Burundian President said: “I express my thanks and appreciation to them for their full confidence that the issue of peace in Sudan belongs to the Sudanese, and that the solution will emerge from their national will.” Ndayishimiye affirmed the African Union’s continued engagement in efforts to address the Sudanese crisis, saying: “The African Union will remain fully engaged and mobilized to the fullest extent,” while calling on all parties to engage in dialogue. He added: “Peace is possible when the will is genuine.”BH/BH
