Darfur Governor: Some Countries and Organizations Conspired to Prevent Sudan from Addressing the International Community

Khartoum, (SUNA) – Governor of Darfur Region Minni Arko Minawi affirmed that preventing Sudan from delivering its address before the United Nations General Assembly would have far-reaching repercussions, noting that General Abdel-Fattah Al-Burhan, President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC), had been scheduled to deliver Sudan’s address, but this did not take place. Speaking to the press at Khartoum Airport upon his return from New York, where he participated as part of Sudan’s delegation in the meetings of the United Nations General Assembly, Minawi said that some countries, political organizations, and so-called civil organizations played “dirty roles” and conspired to prevent Sudan from addressing the international community. He added that the Sudanese people, wherever they were—on the streets of American cities, outside the United Nations headquarters, and in front of the UN Security Council—made their voices heard after being prevented from doing so inside international forums. Minawi explained that Sudan’s address was delivered by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, commending the efforts made by Ambassador Al-Harith and the diplomatic mission in Washington in working to ensure that Sudan’s voice was heard. Governor of Darfur Region noted that some major powers seek to suppress the Sudanese people because they want to defend themselves, stressing that Sudanese will not accept suppression and will continue to resist injustice. He added that many peoples around the world stand with Sudan. He further noted that some parties are withholding the truth from the US administration, stressing that Sudan stands against those who conceal the facts, and affirming that the United States has not stood against Sudan and that Sudan has not stood against the United States.BH/BH
