Riyadh, Oct. 5 (Petra) — A Jordanian parliamentary delegation led by
MP Abdul Baset Al-Kabariti, head of the Jordanian-Saudi Parliamentary
Brotherhood Committee, met in Riyadh on Monday with Federation of
Saudi Chambers Vice President Khaled bin Mohammad Al-Saikhan and
Saudi-Jordanian Business Council Chairman Abdulrahman bin Hassan
Al-Thubeiti to explore expanding economic and investment cooperation.
The meeting was attended by Dr. Ibrahim Al-Qannas, head of the
Saudi-Jordanian Parliamentary Friendship Committee at the Saudi Shura
Council, and Jordanian Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Haitham Abu
Al-Foul, along with members of the business council and the
federation.
Al-Kabariti highlighted the strategic nature of bilateral relations
under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah II and King Salman
bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, with support from HRH Crown Prince Al Hussein
bin Abdullah II and Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed
bin Salman Al Saud.
He emphasized the need to move from identifying investment
opportunities to executing concrete projects that drive economic
growth and job creation in both nations. Saudi investments in Jordan,
he noted, serve as a cornerstone for long-term production and
development partnerships that capitalize on both countries’
competitive advantages.
Al-Kabariti presented several key investment opportunities in Jordan,
including the National Railway project, the Mujib pumped-storage
hydroelectric energy project, green hydrogen and renewable energy
initiatives, electric vehicle assembly, the Amman-Zarqa light rail
project, development zones and the dry port in Ma’an, silica sand
mining, pharmaceutical and medical industries, medical tourism, food
security, and information technology.
He added that aligning Saudi Vision 2030 with Jordan’s Economic
Modernization Vision creates significant scope for joint ventures
that leverage Jordan’s strategic geography and skilled workforce
alongside Saudi Arabia’s financial and technological capabilities.
For their part, representatives from the Federation of Saudi Chambers
and the Saudi-Jordanian Business Council underscored the importance
of enhancing direct engagement between private sector leaders,
identifying priority sectors, and overcoming procedural hurdles
facing investors.
The Jordanian delegation also included MP Ayman Al-Badadweh, deputy
head of the brotherhood committee and chair of the House Public
Services and Transport Committee; MP Falihah Al-Khodeir, chair of the
House Woman and Family Affairs Committee; and MPs Ibrahim Al-Jbour,
Mohammad Al-Mahameed, Ayman Abu Al-Rubb, and Tareq Bani Hani.
